The
main contractor of The Wetlands Trust
HQ approached CIS to access our knowledge
on Intumescent Coatings, to provide
Class O Surface Spread of Flame (BS476
Part 6 1987) to the ashed faced
boarding in their new Head Quarters.
After research and consultation we
advised them that the solution was
to use Envirograf ES/VFR Intumescent
Clear Coating System, which is not
affected by moisture or other environmental
problems, and is the ideal system
for the use on Hard Faced Boards.
Brasenose
College, Oxford
The
college architect approached CIS after
previous installation problems, as
a valued consultant to advise them
on upgrading of various flat, raised
and fielded panel doors, on various
staircases.
The approved specification was to
apply Envirograf ES/MP/FC Intumescent
Fire Card, to flat panel doors and
Envirograf ES/RFC Coating System to
raised and fielded panel doors. The
benefits of these two systems was
to provide the required 30 minutes
fire integrity (BSA76 Part 22
1987) and still maintain the
features.
Not only did CIS provide the specification
but we were also able to offer our
Specialist Application Service which
included the fitting of Intumescent
Fire and Smoke Seals and Hinge Protection.
Therefore insuring peace of mind as
we were able to produce Full Fire
Certification upon completion.

to give Fire Protection to existing

on panel doors within this period

with specialist knowledge to this
in accordance with the building regulations
and BS standards.
We were able to supply and install

60 minutes fire integrity, insulation
and load bearing to BS476 Part 21

Sub-Tone
Cafe, Promenade, Cheltenham, Glos.
CIS
were called upon to investigate to
provide 60 minute Fire Integrity to
a decorative lathe and plaster ceiling.
We couldn't provide protection between
the joists because the premises above
where in constant use. The solution
we provided was to apply Envirograf
S/Ceramic Intumescent Paper System
bonded to the ceiling using CA/N adhesive
and EP/CP Plaster Board Coating to
the decorative coving and ceiling
rose
This system not only provided the
necassary fire protection but also
gave 60 minute insulation and load
bearing to BS476 Part 21.
We also advised the contract decorators
how to apply the system to the decorative
finishes.
Royal
Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant, South
Wales (New Build)
After
a long working relationship with the
hospitals architects Capita, CIS worked
in conjunction with them to provide
our expertise and specialist consultation
services for the new build of the
hospital.
We were able to provide not only Intumescent
Fire Tents and Down Lighter Covers
to recessed light fittings, but also
to pipes and services passing through
fire rated partitions in the plant
room. One problem we faced was that
many of the pipes were fixed closly
together and indivdual fire protection
was not possible. The solution was
to provide Envirograf EB Intumescent
Boxes to acheive 60 minute fire integrity
to BS476 Part 20 +22 1987, some of
which was manufactured specially to
fit 2 or 3 pipes.
